Manghis Khan

Standards and originals on trumpet, bass, African and Caribbean percussion

                 Manghis Khan consists of African and Latin percussion, trumpet and bass. We draw inspiration from American jazz, travels through SouthEast Asia and China, and from the rhythms of the Middle East, West Africa and the Caribbean. The quartet plays Brazilian, Latin and jazz standards and originals in a unique, highly rhythmic ensemble.  The innovative group playfully combines traditionally inspired rhythms with jazz melody, drawing on the players experience, training and love for the music.

                The quartet was formed in 2004 and has since performed in the Seattle area for private events and at nightclubs and lounges including: The Triple Door, The SeaMonster Lounge, Toi, Spice, The 909 Café and Wine Bar and the Scarlet Tree.

                Manghis Khan is available as a quartet or as a larger ensemble and has experience playing in intimate nightclubs as well as on larger performance stages.
